Welcome to the Shasta County Citizens for Democracy (SCCD) web site. This is a grassroots community based organization dedicated to promoting the values and ideals expressed in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. We approach this effort by holding meetings to plan such events as participating in the local Whole Earth Festival and featuring speakers on a variety of subjects related to the environment, human rights and peace and justice.
SCCD is a, non-partisan organization working to promote equality, accountability and justice within our local, state wide and Federal political systems. We are patriots committed to helping preserve the environment and the interests of all the people regardless of their national origin, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, physical disability, religion or political affiliation. As well as our close association with many other local activists groups, we are also a chapter of the California Alliance for Retired American and strongly support the Occupy Wall Street/Redding and American Dream movements. (See Links to the Right)
We meet at 2:00 PM on the first Saturday of the Month. The Meetings are held at the FreeThought Central facility located at: 2675 Bechelli Ln. #3, Redding CA. 96002 (Behind 2665 Bechelli) Anyone interested in learning more about our organization is welcome to join us at one of our monthly meetings or drop in for a cup of coffee and chat with some of the other visitors. Climate Change
Climate change is real and it's happening now! If we don't raise our voices and call for the elimination of the causes of the catastrophic events forecasted by the Scientific community, many people around the world will suffer greatly. Everyone is urged to contact their elected officials and demand they take immediate action to prevent the inevitable disruptive changes to the global climate.
